    Lavender-pink flowers. A small-leafed evergreen turning mahogany in winter. The most durable and winter-hardy Rhododendron for the upper Midwest.

    Rhododendrons are commonly divided into two general groups: 1. Azaleas, which are mainly deciduous with funnel-shaped flowers contained 5 stamens 2. Rhododendrons, which are mainly evergreen with bell-shaped flowers containing 10 or more stamens.

    Heading back is done to shape and reduce the size of the plant. Cut prominent shoots back inside the body of the plant to where they meet another branch.

    Heading back may be done from late fall to mid-July.
