  • Pruning:Pruning animation

It is important that this type of pruning be done annually to ensure a dense mounded plant.

Pines may only be trimmed when in what is referred to as the "Candle" stage. The candle stage is usually in mid-May, when the new growth is extended but the needles have not yet elongated. By hand, break off 1/2 to 2/3's of each candle. Do not remove the candles with a pruning too which will cut and subsequently brown the tips of the needles.
